Great stuff! I agree with you 100%. That has been my biggest problem; focusing on too many things. I know there’s a fortune to be made if I stick with the niche I’m involved with now and stop trying to skim the surface off dozens of other niches.

Thanks!

Hello John,

I totally agree with your video. I see way too many people waste away by jumping on the next 5 “big things” that sounds good at the time.

The problem, it seems, is that people are following and emulating others without question. There are very few leaders who will stand up and make a statement as you just did. I guess, this is because it’s not the popular thing to do. It’s easier to follow the herd than lead a market in the right direction.

Your analogy of the top 400 richest men as published in Forbes, is a correct one. Most of the richest men because are rich because they focused on one goal, one dream, and one plan to accomplish that dream. If that plan failed, they had a back up plan, and a back up plan for that one. And none of the plans included multiple unrelated streams of income.

I thank you for taking the time to put the video together for us, and I look forward to your future teachings.

Hey John,

It’s about time somebody shattered the MSOI myth. Thanks for telling the stark truth.

Diversification has its place, but too much diversification is truly a distraction. As you point out there is seldom a person that excels at many different things… rather they excel because they put all of their effort and resources into ONE thing.

The BEST in any field of endeavor are comprise of people who put have a single-minded purpose. From professional athletes to the best surgeons, from the best CEO’s to the wealthiest entrepreneurs, all display that trait of determination, focus, drive and commitment… all focused on a single purpose. Seldom do the “jack of all trades” excel at anything.

There’s probably few other fields where foces is as difficult as in internet marketing. Daily we are faced with dozens of new ideas and opportunities. The pace of change is so fast and the flow of information so great that it is extremely difficult to separate what is important from what is frivolous. It makes focusing on a single project, a single goal all the more difficult.

So, thanks John for reminding us that it is better to excel at one thing than to be mediocre at many.

John,

Thanks for the friendly reminder… and it’s so true in my case. I’ve been sidetracked trying to build the multiple income streams for the last year and my total income has suffered. In the last 3 months I refocased on our primary business and target audience and my income has made a 50% recovery and should be growing again by next month.

It’s nice to hear I’m not the only Marketing ADD…

Hi John,

Thanks so much for the timely video.

I say that it’s timely due to the avalanche of product launches that have bombarded the IM market over the past 2 months.

Maybe it’s the case of the dog and the bone- you don’t want to focus on the bone in hand, because the possibility of infinite “bones” is so attractive.

Personally I have jumped from 1 great idea without growing roots in any 1 area. Thanks for the reminder to refocus. Much appreciated.

Best wishes for 2007

Michelle

Interesting information. Glad to have had the chance to listen to your logic, it does make sense. Thanks.

Hi John,

Don’t be a Jack of all trades ..be Master of one!..got it….

However….You have been advocating VRE sites ( Jack of all trades) for the year or so I have been receiving your Reese reports…

You are sending us a simple message here, I give you that! and, in my humble opinon, i agree with you, but, does’nt advocating VRE’s contradict what you are saying here?

Regards

Owen

When "Easy" Doesn't Come Easy

Home Business: When "Easy" Doesn't Come Easy

Instant results and immediate gratification are what people expect when they start a home business. But after the initial excitement of a new home business wears off, most people are left dejected. Don’t let the initial storms of a home business deter you from your goal of success. In the beginning you will experience, just like every one else has experienced, the situation of having more money going out then coming in. Most people drop out of the race as soon as adversity hits and go back to their previous jobs. All this stems from the misconception that starting and maintaining a business, in the early stages, is easy. But for those that see beyond the struggle, prosperity awaits.

The idea that starting any business much less a home business is easy, meaning involving little or no effort, should be set next to Santa and his reindeer because it is most definitely high-flying fiction. Any successful home business entrepreneur will tell you that when they began, they spent a good amount of time in front of the computer setting up their venture. It was only after they put in time, that their business became easy. They can make money when they are sleeping or just by sending out a few emails, but it all came from they time they spent on their business.

Now you may be asking yourself, “Well if starting a home business isn’t easy, how can people who know nothing about the computer make the type of money that I want to make?” Although beginning a home business is not easy, the key to success lies in simplicity.

Creating your own home business is simple, meaning made up uncomplicated directions that require no special knowledge. That is how internet novices can take their ideas and create wealth. They have found a SIMPLE system and followed it EXACTLY. Money and freedom follow soon after.

The hope of your business succeeding is found in your diligence to do the simple system and mirror its success. It cannot come from sitting back and waiting for something to happen or for someone else to do it for you. Toss the “easy theory” of home business out the window and embrace the simple nature of success. Once you do, your progress will never stop.

People will often look for the easy way in life and soon regret it in the end. The same is true for home business; The easy way ends up being the hard way. Why does making things simple work out better than making things easy?
