8 Tips to Identify Terrific Topics to Market Your Business With Articlesadded June 25, 2007 Autor: Nancy Waring
Writing articles for internet distribution is a popular and effective means of marketing your business. Articles are an excellent way to let others learn about your expertise, while providing valuable information to potential customers and business partners.
Many people aren’t sure what to write about. Either they think they don’t have any expertise, or they don’t think anyone will be interested in what they have to say.
Everyone has information that someone else can appreciate. As a business owner, there are areas of expertise, you can share with those who are not experts. Stop analyzing, listen to your heart, and start brainstorming - you’ll be surprised at the ideas that will flow.
Here are eight ideas to brainstorm when deciding on your article topics.
1. Think about the questions your customers or prospects ask. The same questions being asked is a sign that there is interest in the topic. Although you may think everyone knows the benefits of Vitamin C or filtered water, there are many of us who don’t know.
2. Ask someone who knows you what they think your expertise is. Friends and family see you and your business from a different perspective. For example, if you’re a network marketer and your friends say you listen really well, develop an article around listening skills.
3. What are your favorite and least favorite parts of your business. We all have these as part of our business. Identify the top 4-7 things you love about being a leader, or the 7 challenges someone should know before becoming a team leader.
4. The best resources about your business area or expertise. People searching for information are always looking for the best and most current information available. Knowing sources that can educate your readers about subjects pertaining to your business or products shows that you stay up to date in your field. For example, write about your favorite websites related to your business, product or service. Tell your readers why or what useful information the sites provide.
5. The best things about your product/service. Be generic about this. You imply you are the best when you write about "the five things a buyer should expect from customer service" or "the 7 essential ingredients to look for in a nutritional drink." Of course, the reader will expect your business to have what ever the bet is that you are writing about.
6. How to improve something related to your niche. Look at your business and things that you may have improved during your time in business and tell a story about it. People are always interested in how challenges are overcome and in success stories.
7. Interview someone who has a skill or information related to your niche. If you know someone who has built a great team or does exciting presentations, for example, you can do a Q&A interview with them about that area of their expertise.
8. Tie current news events into your article. Childhood obesity, as an example, is a major topic in the news and can be tied into a number of different businesses including health and wellness, nutrition or weight loss. Look for ways to tie holidays into your product or service. Greeting card companies are excellent at this.
Once you get the topics out of your head and on to paper, there will be plenty of time later to analyze and get feedback on the value of the topic. Think of topics from your heart - analyze them later from your brain.
You have a lot of valuable information to share. Follow these techniques, before you know it, you’ll have several 600-word articles ready for marketing your business on the internet.
